Supporting Community Controlled Health Services
Aboriginal Health Services in New South Wales are able to partner with the University of Newcastle on the Which Way project building Indigenous-led evidence base for smoking and vaping cessation care.
Services will receive free training and resources to run group-based smoking and vaping cessation in their community in the way that’s right for their community.
The Which Way? group-based program
incorporates six-sessions that aim to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women with the knowledge and tools to make their own choices that support their smoking and vaping cessation journey.
The program incorporates evidence-based behaviour change techniques and culturally responsive and relevant resources and practices. The program offers flexible delivery options, you can conduct sessions face-to-face, online, or a combination of the two tailored to your community needs.
The program includes the most up to date evidence on smoking cessation approaches using relevant activities to build empowerment through connection, conversation and personal reflections.
Women participating in Which Way smoking and vaping cessation groups will receive a Cessation Journal to work through along their journey, which are filled with culturally directed resources, activities, information, and support.
